Yoga’s primary emphasis is upon general well-being. Yoga employs a broad holistic approach that focuses on inspiring people to live consciously, adopt an aware way of thinking and interacting in the world. In the process it brings about a myriad of healing effects and health benefits.

To access emotional pain through the brain, one must in some way access or attend to the body. Our bodies communicate imbalances or discomforts to us whenever they arise. This can be experienced through feelings of anxiety, discomfort in the abdomen or difficulty with natural breathing. Many people feel stressed and experience neck and shoulder stiffness or feel sad and as a result feel closed in the throat area.

Dis-ease is a manifestation of not being in harmony, not being straight and being in a state of imbalance. The body can heal very fast if the right corrective action is taken. The body follows first and foremost what is happening in the mind. The body is a reflection of the mind.

Many people perceive yoga to be a mere physical practice. In general, it is approached in the same way as daily living: with a desire to do, act and achieve. This action continues to keep the mind busy and occupied.

On the contrary, yoga is about silence. Only in silence can true self-discovery be achieved. Only in silence is the mind quiet, and can peace be attained. When silence continues, it becomes stillness, and when there is stillness, there is nothing more that is pulling us. From this space – healing occurs. When things are continually pulling us, disease arises. The things that we consider to be most important, and attach ourselves to, keep us busy and preoccupied with action and desire. One becomes afraid of all kinds of loss and then tense. All fears result in tensions. Tensions make pathways in the physical body and can result in disease and imbalances.

Regular practice of Yoga brings awareness and alignment into the physical body and brings balance and health to the mind.
